Any updates about the House of Night movie?
1) we announced last February that Davis Films and Hassell Free Productions is in preproduction for the first movie.
2) this film will cover most of the action of the first two books. The decision hasn't been made that each movie will cover two books. That'll depend on the books and how much time we're allowed for each movie.
3) We have done some casting, but I am not allowed to announce who has been cast yet. We'll begin again shortly. Our awesome director, is not having open casting calls. That means actors will need experience and an agent to audition.
4) I have been and continue to be very involved, including script and cast and I'll be on set during filming. NO, THERE WILL BE NO WHITEWASHING OF THE CAST. I've said that over and over the past twenty years. That will not change.
5) when I am allowed to share specific information I will immediately. Right now there is A LOT going on behind the scenes—none of which I've been given permission to share.
6) The production company is planning to film this year.
7) It is way too early to talk about when it will release.

If you want to be a professional author you need to approach the career like you would any other job. RESEARCH THE WRITING PROFESSION. You can begin by reading: Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott, How To Get Happily Published by Judith Appelbaum, The Writers Market, and The Agents Market. Ignore the romanticized idea that says being an author is something magical and mystical – that you lay around, waiting for your Muse to whisper in your ear, or for your dreams to coalesce, and then you’re simply the vessel through which all the stories flow. Ugh. Being an author is a job. Writing is work. Period.
